Zack sat alone in the owlery, splashing his bare feet in the ocen water from the otters. Minutes before an otter had made way over to him, handing him the letter from home. How could he be so stupid? How could he not check in back home? Now it was a bit too late. He watched the ruffles his feet mad in the water as thoughts flooded his mind. How could he live without the one person who undestood him the most? He was alone in the owlery. He was positive. He let the tears slipp away, lossing themselves in the sea

Roxy strolled down the rocky hill towards the owlery, whistling brightly and totally oblivious to what lay ahead. She looked up just before she reached the edge, seeing Zack sitting there, hunched over and shaking slightly. All she could do was stand there, unsure of whether to confront him or just leave him alone..

Zack heard a noise behind him. He wiped his eyes as best he could before turning around to identify the noise. It was Roxy. He smiled slightly at her, opening his mouth to say something smart, but nothing came to mind so he shut his mouth and smiled again. "hey." He called

"Hey.." she replied, giving him a small smile as well. She noticed how red and wet his eyes were, but didn't mention it.. knowing somehow that it would be best not to. "Mind if I sit down?" she asked, motioning to the spot beside him.

"Be my guest love." He said simply, making more room for her. "Hey, I'm, uh, sorry for the way I acted at the Kinrick party the other night."

Roxy quickly sat down beside him, laughing a little. "Dont worry about it.. you were just drunk. You've put up with much worse things from me when I've been drinking" she told him.

"Something wrong?" she said, almost regretting even asking after seeing the pained look on Zack's face. "I mean, you just seem.. different, that's all.." she added.

"Uh...yeah...actually." Zack hesitated before showing Roxy the letter stating his friends death. His father had discussed it as if it were some formal, bussiness letter that disgusted him. He looked away as Roxy read it.

Roxy hesitated, then carefully grabbed the letter and read it, wide eyed. "Oh, Zack.." she said, almost in a whisper. Now everything made sense. "That's horrible. Is there anything I can do? Or do you just not want to talk about it?" she asked, looking at him sympathetically.

Zack's shoulders slumped and he cursed under his breath as the tears fell again. He wiped at them quickly, but they kept coming. "I duno...I duno what I want to do..."

"It's okay ..you don't always have to hold it in" she told him, pulling him into a hug. She felt her face burn and eyes well up as she held him, but tried to remain strong.

Zack gave in and collasped in Roxy's arms, his shoulders shaking furiously as he cried.

Roxy smiled weakly as she sqeezed tight, rubbing his back a little. She had never seen him like this; so defeated and vaunerable. Not knowing what to do, and for the fear of saying something to upset him, she just sat there in silence, letting him cry.
