Madeline had been waiting all day to see the new sights at Knockwood School , but yet she still felt alone. She hadan't met anyone since the day she arrived and was hoping that would change soon. She walked by the waters edge letting the beach's refreshing waves crash against her feet.

Lexi walked down to the beach, whistling to herself, the usual spring to her step. Most of her friends were at the North Beach, and had told her to meet her there, but she had gotten the names wrong. As usual. Lexi looked around, finding no one but a girl she hadn't met yet, but since she was here anyway, decided to be friendly. "Hey!" she called brightly, making her way over to the girl. "You're in my House, aren't you? Everard?"

Madeline kicked at some random rocks that seemed to be laying there unconsciously waiting for the waves to drag them back into the oceans depth. She let her toes feel the wet sand , before she walked in a little deeper. As she continued walking she heard a voice behind her ,
"Hey!" the girl called brightly, as she made her way over to Madeline. "You're in my House, aren't you? Everard?"
She did not recognize the girl except for maybe a few times she might have passed her in the hallways , but she could not put a name to the face.
"Hey." , she said back with just as much enthusiasm. "Yea , I'm in Everard too , I'm Madeline Koraskaya , you're?"

"I knew it." she replied, smiling with a proud look in her eyes. She knew she had seen her somewhere, if only in passing in the halls or the dorms. "Nice to meet you, I'm Lexi Summers. What're you doing down here, all by yourself?" she asked, gesturing around her to the beach. It was colder than most people would have liked, so the people were sparse, none coming too close to the talking girls.

"Yea , it's great to finally meet someone in the same house as myself." , she said to the girl.
Madeline took a seat on some sand that did not look like the waves had crashed onto it yet.
"Umm , well I haven't really met anyone yet and I did not want to be stuck in my dorm all day so I figured a walk by the beach would be nice , what about you?"

"I'm always on the beach, actually." she told her, smiling and shrugging. "It's kind of my home away from the castle. It's a great way to get away from frusterating people and just relax." She shrugged again, looking out into the water. It was a slow day, it seemed, the waves only licking at her toes instead of crashing down onto the shore as she sat down as well.

Madeline looked back at the Castle , you could barely see it except for a few of the highest towers that were covered the morning fog , but yet seemed to stand out. She looked away toward the beach , the sun was just rising while the water was still cold as ever.
"Your right , it is a great place to relax and just take stress off everything."

"Glad you think so." she said, nodding, her gaze still drawn to the water. It always had this effect on her; she wouldn't be able to tear her eyes from it, the crystal-clear waves that shone in the usually-harsh sun. "But anyway, what're majoring in? Any idea?"

Madeline clumped up some of the sand in her hand , she liked the way it felt and how it just lid between the cracks between her fingers and yet loosed its form again.
"Umm , I'm majoring in Multi-Cultural Magical Studies." , she said to her. "What about you?"

"Advanced Divination." she told her proudly, though knowing full-well that most people found the class to be a joke. She waited for a joke or a laugh to follow her words, running her hands along the smooth sand on either side of her.

"I was actually thinking of taking that course , but I doubted I would do very well in it." , she told her. "I'm sure you'll do well , and I wish you the best of luck in it.", she said.
Madeline sighed , she knew when classes really got to a good start she would not be able to do the fun things she enjoyed so she was taking as much advantage as she could.
"So how long have you been here?"

"This is my second year." she told her, shrugging. "So I'm still kind of new, but I know my way around everywhere, so it's nice. What about you?" she asked politely, stretching her legs out to catch the small glimpses of sun.

"This is my first and sadly I am surprised that I haven't lost myself in the school quite yet." , she said.
Madeline kicked at the sand , the sun was now up as the crashing waves shone like magic forming and crashing.

"Sadly?" Lexi repeated, looking both amused and slightly confused at the comment. "Is it a bad thing that you haven't gotten lost around the school yet? Not that it's all too big or anything." She shrugged off the comment, not dwelling on the words of others.
She turned her gaze back out to the water, then the sky, smiling weakly as the clouds flew by above their heads. "It's beautiful here, no? I love the beach."

"Of course , I have always wanted to go to school near a beach and look where I am now." , she said.
Madeline sighed as she scanned the horizon , the salty air was drifing away her sense as she laid back.
"It would be cool if we had a volleyball tornament here , you know boys against girls?" , she told the girl. "I'm sure we'd win , but hey it's worth a shot."
