Lexi was sitting at the beach, simply watching the waves as they danced; teasingly, they drew closer, but once they had gotten near her feet, quickly retreated. It was a calming place to be, one that she usually didn't enjoy. She wasn't happy unless she was doing something productive most of the time, but this was different. It could have been the fact that she had snuck out, or maybe because it was long past midnight, but the waves seemed to be crashing just for her, dancing to a silent lullaby.

Charlotte walked down to the beach, basiacally for the cool breeze. She stood where the grassland reached the sand, not wanting to go any further at that moment. She looked out across the horizon, taking in the salty smells, and the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks.

Lexi, not noticing or hearing the girl who was far away from her, continued watching the waves. Soon, she began singing a song her mother had sung when she was a baby; she didn't remember the words, but it didn't matter. She had the melody imprinted in her mind, so she began singing it, using "ah"s in replace of the words.

Charlotte, stood there firmly, still looking out at the sea. Occasionally, she heard a faint melody over the waves, she frowned towards the sound. The wind was blowing softly now, ergo making the tune a little louder. She looked across the beach, and spotted a figure, a bit away down the beach, she watched on.

Oblivious as she usually was, Lexi didn't feel the girl's presence. So instead of introducing herself, she absentmindedly ran her fingers through the soft sand around her, the song varying in volume as she lost track of her place. She wasn't focusing on singing anymore, or even the sand that surrounded her. For once, Lexi was completely absorbed in her thoughts.

Charlotte realised the girl was not going to notice her if she just stood there, she slowly wandered over. Instead of interupting the beautiful song, she sat a few meters away from her. She still kept her gaze out at sea.

During a part where her voice dramatically dropped in volume, Lexi heard the approaching footsteps and turned around. There, behind her, was a girl, looking out into the clear ocean. She immediately stopped singing, not out of embarassment, but to introduce herself. "Oh, hey. I'm Lexi. You are?"

Charlotte smiled softly down at her, "Hello, I'm Charlotte," she nodded, the girl looked slightly familiar, but she shrugged it off. "That was beautiful," she told him simply.

Lexi shrugged, returning the smile. "You think so? Thanks. My mum used to sing it for me when I was little, and I guess it was stuck in my head." She paused, looking up at her again. "Nice to meet you Charlotte."

She smiled, "It was lovely," she nodded, "It fits perfectly to out here," she stated, shifting her gaze back out to the sea.

Lexi nodded, she too turning her gaze back to the ocean. "I liked to think so. It's so peaceful out here. Most of the time it's crowded with everyone, running and laughing and playing. And most of the time I'm right there with them, but it's nice to just relax and be peaceful sometimes, isn't it?"

She nodded firmly, "I completely agree," she paused, "Although, without the laughter and crowdiness, it seems a bit lonely," she commented.

Lexi, who hadn't been thinking along those lines, nodded, looking thoughtful. "Yeah, I guess it is. But, now that we both have company, it's a bit less lonely." she said, shrugging.

"Oh yes definitely," she added. "So what house are you in?" she asked, subconsciously.

"Everard, actually. Advanced Divination major, but don't hold that against me." Lexi said, smiling weakly. From experience, she knew most people found Divination to be a joke, but it was her life. Her passion, if you will. "What about you?"
