Wesley crossed the beach, wind kicking sand up as it blew past. He'd not done much that day, it'd been rather dull in honesty. As he neared the water the breeze became cooler, the air quickly following suite. He turned in the sand glancing about the area finding it all quite pleasing. He thought about painting it, or at least using the colors of the sky. It was quite breathtaking, he'd not payed much attention to the island or its surroundings until then.

Brandon had sat, waves nipping gently at his feet, on one of the nearby weathered rocks. He sighed quietly to himself and withdrew a small stone from his pocket. He put the stone between his fingers and tossed it across the ocean's surface, trying to make it skip. Needless to say, it was not very effective.
Brandon took no notice of this failure or of his new arrival. He just sat, completely mesmerized in his thoughts, watching the waves, hoping, someway, they could take him along with them.

Wesley arrived near the water, as he walked the water made frequent passes over his feet. He stopped a few yards from the figure of someone. He didn't think he knew them, the idea becoming somewhat more certain as he got nearer. He neared, walking casually as he did so. As he passed he acknowledged him, a small wave and greeting. "Nice night." He added as he looked across to the horizon.

Brandon turned to face his visitor, and found, to his surprise, that he was a stranger. "Err....yes," He repiled, vaugely amused by this person's attempt at conversation. "I suppose you'll remark next upon the weather and then progress to other areas of small talk?" Brandon shook his head slowly, grinned, and returned to the sea.

"No." Wesley returned in turn with a sharp sarcasm. "No, I'd prefer to be unsociable and tasitone." He glanced down at the boy sitting near him. Grinning in mimic. He returning his gaze to the horizon, watching waves come closer, intermingling fluidly. "Perhaps by and by, I may observe that the shoreis more pleasant at night." He looked back at the boy. "And now if you wish we may remain silent."

"Well well well," Brandon said to himself, chuckling. "It seems you will fit in here quite nicely....Though wit and sharp of tounge are prominent in your house, yes?" He asked, gesturing to the Aeridorn patch on the stranger's clothes. "But then....It may be best you not answer that. After all, as you so'....eliquently.....' stated, 'Nice night.' We wouldn't want it ruined by the insufferable racket of your incoherent ramblings, would we?"

Wesley only nodded at first, smiling as he did. "Another pleasing feature of the shoreline." He commented as he took a step from him turning and walking backwards. "Waves make the lovliest white noise. Both isolationist in their ability to drown away the unwanted, he stopped a yard or two from him. "And inviting in their melody." He continued to watch the waves from this new point.

ooc: Writer's block. Sorry.....
ic: Brandon smirked at Wesley's retreat, or so it seemed. "Ah yes..." He said silently to himself. "The latter is immensely more important. It gets rid of all my little....problems.....without me even lifting a finger." He laughed half-heartedly to himself, yet always keeping an eye on Wesley. There was something about this boy that he didn't trust, and he knew he had to be prepared at all times.

Wesley grinned to himself, perhaps he'd found something at which had made the boy less brash. He hadn't wanted much more, he was only hoping in honesty to expant his society within the school. Knowing few, he had readily hoped for a larger base of friends. "Well, we all have ways of unwinding." he replied with another grin, honest in his words. "I can't fault you for your choice, it is quite relaxing."

"It is," agreed Brandon. "And yet..." he motioned to a point of the ocean barely close enough to view. There, a shark was feasting on tonight's prey, one of the delivery otters. "Nature is all around us. Which...unfortunately....means life is all around us. A fact that I've been trying to escape from for a long time..."
He sighed to himself, suddenly losing control. He buried his head in his hands and took several moments to calm himself. After some long, deep breaths, his head re-emerged. He gazed back to the sea, acting as if nothing had happened.

Wesley started at him, head tilted through the episode. He didn't really know what he should make of it and knew he would do best to ignore the sudden change in continence. He looked out at the waves. "It ate it? Poor thing..." He glancing down, "Maybe we'll get lucky and it was carrying a howler eh?" He wasn't positive if his joke was in place or not and quickly refrained from any further speech, taking to pushing sand around.

Brandon turned to him, a slight grin on his face. "Getting a little uncomfortable, are we?" he asked with a chuckle. "Seems like little Mr. err.....whatever your name is, isn't as invincible as he initially appears...?"

"I don't pretend to hold such high acclaim for myself..." He was finding himself somewhat uncomfortable. He had only hoped to find a friend, or at least an aquatence in him and now it seemed he wasn't doing too well in that regard. He aranged in his head that attempt was faltering. "I'm sorry if I've come across that way." He said with an honest look of regret flushing his face. "I didn't meant to appear as such."

Brandon shook his head, the grin growing larger. "You little Aeridorn boys can't take a joke, can you? You don't have to be so......." He looked for the right word, one that would portray his idea yet not deem offensive,"....submissive. Be proud of who you are. Like yourself, or no one else will."

Wesley didn't respond, he wasn't submissive- he just didn't like the idea of appearing arrogant. The wind blew past and as it subsided he went about fixing his hair somewhat. He'd lost his footing now, and wasn't sure of what he sould say. He looked back at the waves. "Poor Otter..." He remarked thinking on it now.
