Lexi could sense her discomfort, and had started feeling some herself, but was determined not to let it show. Of course she had a crush on Alex, hadn't she seen them talking on the beach during the bonfire? But she hadn't stuck around to find out what happened, she'd been off talking with Zack... Had they gotten a chance to talking? Had he fallen for her as well? So many unanswered questions flooded her mind, though she made sure her demeanor was as calm as usual. Well, when they weren't talking about Quidditch, that is.
"Oh, really now? That's cute. I think you would be cute together." she told her, though it was as if she were outside her body, watching her say those words to her friend.

Maggie choked on her fry. She coughed and waved her hand to indicate she was ok. She grabbed her glass, and washed it down with water. Putting her glass down, she took a deep breath. She looked at Lexi like she was crazy, and laughed a little. "Oh please." She said for alot of different reasons. "No ..." She choose her words carefully. "I'm not looking for a relationship right now." She glanced at Lexi. "I just broke up with my boyfriend of two years." She smiled weakly, just to for Lexi to see she was ok. She wasn't looking for pity. "I'm thinking it's best if I stayed single for a while. I mean, I haven't been single for two years now. I should savor it." 'I don't like Alex.' She repeated in her mind. Maybe she was just ... attracted to him. He was so easy to talk, and she felt great around him, which was an entirely new experiance. But he probably wouldn't like her. Even if he did, it wouldn't work out. What if this was just a phase, and eventually they attraction would fade? What then? Two (or one) miserable people, that's what. Maggie felt very resolute. No, she did not like him. He just a good guy and ... She imagined his smile when he offered her a seat next to him. Oh God, she did like him. In her mind, she was banging her head on a wall. Realizing she had zoned out, she turned to Lexi and casually smiled. "Sorry."

Lexi smiled in what she hoped was a reassuring way at her friend. She knew that look all too well. The way she zoned out during their conversation, the small smile playing at the corners of her lips, the dazed and happy look in her eyes... The girl across from her was obviously attracted to this boy, and she was determined not to let herself get in the way of that.
"S'alright. You can stay single all you want. But I still think it'd be cute. Really."
