Jonas had been up all night, once again and found no comfort in the dorm. He walked slowly along the beach, kicking at the sand every few minutes, lost in his own thoughts and theories

Ian had started his walk up the eastern coast; he followed the sun which was why he usually ran into his brother at breakfast and loud Kinricks at dinner and stubborn Everards at noon. Speaking of which . . . coming in the opposite direction down the beach was an Everard boy he recognized as Jonas Harper . . . their Seeker. He nodded to him once as their trajectories met.

"Morning." Jonas muttered to the boy as they past., almost bumping shoulders, not noticing the boy at first.

Ian hadn't really expected the Everard to acknowledge him outloud and he turned ever so slightly to glance at him oddly. He sort of cleared his throat and returned the greeting, "Morning . . . "

Jonas raised an eyebrow and a small smirk crept to his. "Everything all right?" He had stopped in his tracks and glanced at the other.

"Sure," Ian replied, not overly garrulous particularly at this hour. He contemplated his own silence and added, "Other than the fact that I have a Charms project due at eleven this morning and I can't see completing it without skipping my morning class."

"I've just completed my potions." Jonas replied, watching the small waves coming in from the ocean. He turned to the boy looking at him more closely. He had seen him around. "You play Quidditch, yes?"

"Sure do, I'm a Chaser for Wolfsbane . . . I broom race as well . . . speed being my greatest asset on a broom and all . . ." Ian replied, and shrugged modestly. "You're a Seeker, aren't you? . . . I was used to that position but it was filled when I arrived. Chaser's a lot harder . . . a better workout at least."

"Wofsbane, ay?" Jonas nodded as he listened to the other speak. "You need focus skills for seeker. It helps your mind. Just as difficult as a chaser." He emphaized chaser.

"Not so difficult when you're used to it . . . it's been more of a personal struggle for me, playing Chaser I mean . . ." Ian explained quickly. "More teamwork as well. I suppose I'll get just as used to it in time."

Jonas nodded. "I'd rather work alone anyways." He replied, a bit stubbornly. He took his postion in Quidditch almost as serious as his studies.

Ian said emphatically, "Exactly . . . . . . I don't much like my performance being reliant on others . . . as I see it, other people are flawed and can only drag me down. But Zack yells a lot if I hold the Quaffle when he thinks it should be passed . . ." A sulky expression crossed his face. "It's better than not playing at all."

"Hm, Zack?" Jonas thought for a moment. "Ah, you're drunk captain? I hardly think the guy should even be captain. He's not so qualified." He shook his head slightly, but perhaps all wolfsbane were like that. Maybe as bad as those Kinricks.

Ian sighed. "Well . . ." he said, and shook his head. "There's nothing I can do about it now, unless he fucks up royally. And as long as he doesn't, any professor would just pat me on the hand and wink, muttering something about how we're all young and like a good time. I can't stand Kinrick's parties . . .too loud . . . I'd rather the quieter Wolfsbane bonfires, where the alcohol is usually a bottle of wine or something equally mellow, and the flames and the conversation are both entrancing . . . where you walk home with a slightly light head but energized from the company. Not where you stumble home and pass out in the halls."

"As I like to work alone, drinking alone is a lot more relaxing as well."
OCC: Must be off. Taking a nap. We may continue later.
