Ian rowed the little boat across the channel. Magic was not advisable when approaching the caves, so he only used a little to make the work easier. He kicked at the case of Muggle beer, which had slipped against where he swung to oars. Finally, he made it to the far side; he anchored the little boat and clambored up onto a rocky peak, laying on his stomach and half-hanging over the precipice, an open beer in his hand as he looked down, past the can he held beneath him, to the sands and the water far below.

Zack had been sitting on the little patch of land in front of the cave. He had flown out here on broomstick earlieer to get away from everyone and to clear his mind about Scarlet. He narrowed his eyes as a boat appoarched, smiling slightly when he saw Ian. "Got another one of those?" He asked, nodding to the beer.

Ian nodded, and pointed towards where the beers were settled carefully in a rocky pool far below, shaded enough from the sun so as to be kept cold. He pulled out his wand and muttered, "Accio beer!" One of the cans flew up; Ian caught it without dropping his wand, clearly a practiced move, and handed it to Zack. "There ya go."

"Thanks, you get these from Kinrick." He smiled, opening the beer. "What brings you out here?"

"Course I got 'em from Kinrick . . .never find one of us hawking Muggle beer after all," Ian replied. "And . . . it's my girlfriend . .. or rather . . . she didn't . . . we're not . . .she no longer . . ." He had trouble expressing the concept and merely took three long gulps of his beer.

{girlfriend, ay?}
"What is it Ian?" Zack asked. He could of came up with the same reply if Ian had been Ian asking him that however.

"Killy . . ." he whispered dully, then looked angry. "I don't know what happened! I swear I could . . . do better . . . I don't know . . . something . . ." His cheeks matched his hair suddenly in a flush of frustrated embarrassment. "I'm . . . I told her I was sorry . . ."

Zack took a large gulp of his beer and looked at Ian Questioningly. "Sorry?"

"Nothing! It was nothing!" Ian snapped, the blush rising. He didn't want to talk about that moment . . . oh, and it had been awful . . . what was wrong with him anyway? He looked at Killy and could see every bit of how lovely she was . . . Ian summoned himself another beer and tossed the empty can far out onto the waves, watching it bob away and hating himself.

Zack raised his eyebrows but said nothing in fear of making Ian loss what self control he had. With a shrug, he finished his beer off and set it to the side. He leaned back on his hands, his mind drifting off to Scarlet.

Ian, who was nearly done with the second beer, turned his head and looked at Zack. "Want another?" he offered, Accioing another two and holding one out to the other young man.

"You're welcome. You okay yourself?" he asked, trying to change the subject somewhat.

Ian raised an eyebrow. "That good?" he pressed wryly. "Sounds lovely."
