Zack had been away too long, wanting to get in shape for Quidditch but not having the time. Life depressed him and he couldn't understand why. He made way to the only thing that helped and downed one to many shots before someone from school walked in..

Lexi wandered into the Broken Wand, bored and lonely. There didn't seem to be too many people around lately, and it depressed her. She always wanted to be around people, but everyone seemed to have left. So, frowning, she walked over to the bar and ordered a firewhiskey.
It was only then, when she turned her head to thank the bartender, that she noticed the boy next to her. She had met him at that bonfire... Zack? That was it, she decided, and he looked depressed, far from the happy-go-lucky boy she had met. "Hey you. What's wrong?" she asked with concern, smiling weakly over at him.

Zack looked up at the sound of the voice. He had been staring into his empty glass. He smiled weakly at her as he gathered her face from his vague memory. "Oh, not much." He said, truly not really being able to say.

Either he was a very good liar, or there was truely nothing bothering him, she thought, and just nodded in response to his words. She took a large sip of her drink, closing her eyes as the burning liquid ran down her throat in attempt to stop her eyes from watering. Of course, it never worked, but atleast the tears didn't run down her cheeks. "Well, I hope you feel better, whatever's wrong."

Zack couldnt help but smirk as he watched Lexi drink. "Not big on drinking?"

"Not firewhiskey." she admitted, her eyes still closed to try to keep them from watering. After a few moments, she opened them, and found Zack smirking at her. She couldn't help but laugh lightly, trying to imagine what she must look like. "Is it that obvious?"

"Oh, those tears in your eyes gave it away." He laughed lightly.

"Yeah, always happens, too..." she muttered, blinking them back. Just as her vision cleared, however, she took another sip, and the cycle began all over again. "Damn drinks." she said, though grinning, finding the fact that firewhiskey seemed to make her cry rather amusing.

Zack chuckled. "So why drink?" He asked her simply as he ordered one for himself.

"Why not?" Lexi asked in response, taking the mug off of the bar and letting the heat of the drink warm her hands. Truth be told, she didn't know why she drank; it was more of a craving, sometimes, so she heeded to it.

Zack only shrugged. He knew the feeling. It felt it everyday. He sighed, sipping on his own.

She took another sip, already beginning to feel a buzz; she'd never been one to hold alcohol well. Shaking her head slightly, she finished the rest of the drink, tears now spilling down her cheeks. "I don't think firewhiskey's my drink." she told Zack, grinning as she wiped the tears from her face.

He laughed at her, well ahead in the drinking game, the world around them beginning to blurr. "Perhaps a simple butterbeer then?" He asked her.

"Butterbeer. Good one." she said, nodding and waving down the bartender. "Butterbeer, please." While she waited, she began twirling on the barstool, her childlike innocence coming through again.

Zack watched her with a small smile on his face. Why couldn't everyone live their lives as children forever. He figured it would be much easier.
