Maggie was surprised. "Really?" she asked, not bothering to hide her surprise. Slowly her surpised expression softened to a wide grin. "That sounds great." Maggie had a teasing urge. "You know ... for someone so clumsy, its hard to believe you're a Quidditch Captian." She said with a mock-serious expression.

Lexi couldn't help but laugh at the overall bluntness of her comment, as it reminded her so much of herself. She shrugged, mimicking the mock-serious expression. "Well, you see, all of the other players that tried out for the team all became mysteriously ill, so they had no choice but to make me Captain. Though I'm much better than I was when I started; I only fall off my broom about twice a game now."
She held back her grin, the serious expression still foremost in her features. She could act when she wanted to, but soon she was going to crack and burst out laughing. Usually, not a minute went by without Lexi smiling, so she struggled to keep the expression indifferent and serious.

A challenge. Maggie couldn't give in now. Maggie nodded seriously. "Maybe you'd do better altogether, if you just chuck you broom and skip across the stadium with your bag." Her eyes twinkled again, and she all the muscles in her face began to cramp up from not smiling. She started thinking about how stupid they must look. Two wacky teenagers staring at each other, with twitching faces. At which point, the image became to unbearable, and she exploded with laughter.

Lexi's eyes had begun watering when Maggie had made the comment about her skipping, and her laughter was just too much. She, too, burst out laughing, the imagine of herself falling over in the middle of the pitch unbearable, and only prodding her to laugh harder. A few of the nearby people who had never met the two girls started backing away slowly, and after a few moments, Lexi started to calm down. Enough to begin talking, atleast, though the smile was her most prominent feature.
"No, but really, I'm much more coordinated in the air. Which isn't really saying much, as you've seen me at my finest on the ground. But I'm halfway decent. You've flown before, atleast, even if you haven't actually played Quidditch, right?"

Maggie's laughter subsided into fits of giggles. She sighed and took a deep breath, still smiling widely. "Yeah, I've flown before. Often, actually. I just never tried flying anf handling a ball at the same time." She explained, still smiling. She looked at Lexi smiling, and she got a warm, fuzzy feeling in her chest. Like she just made a new friend.

Lexi grinned and nodded. "Understandable. D'you know the positions and everything?" she asked, tilting her head very slightly, as if studying the girl.
And in a way, she was. She was processing this girl's appearance and trying to determine her skills on the pitch, trying to decide which position she would be best suited for. It was an annoying habit, really, when it came down to it, but someone had to assess potential members of the House team.

"Yeah." Maggie nodded. "I've seen a few games played. I know the basic stuff. Like the positions and what they do. But that's about the end of my Quidditch knowledge." A question popped into Maggie's mind. "What position do you play?"

"Chaser." Lexi stated proudly, an almost maniacal glint appearing in the shadows of her eyes. It was what always happened whenever the topic of Quidditch was brought up; in lamest terms, the game was her life, and she played it well.
"You would be a fine chaser, if you have the coordination and common sense to duck when a bludger is coming... or a keeper." It was Lexi's personal assessment of the girl, one that she couldn't bear to keep to herself. Both positions were still open, as well as one beater spot, but she just couldn't see Maggie playing as the latter.

Maggie choked on her juice, and giggled. "Yeah I think that I could manage ducking when something potentionally painfull comes rushing at my head." She thought a moment. "Beater actually sounds fun. Being able to wack things toward people. But I don't think I'll be able to keep my balance; holding onto the broom while swinging full force at something." Maggie declared thoughtfully, and then looked at Lexi. "But oh well. You can evaulate me once we actually get onto the feild. So stop staring at me like that, its getting creepy." She smiled.

Lexi's grin grew slightly wider, and she shrugged. It wasn't everyday she was called creepy, but it was atleast once a week, so she had decided to be proud of the fact. "I'm a very creepy girl. I suppose you're just going to have to get used to it. But, I guess I will just have to evaluate you on the pitch."
With those words, she stood, slinging her bag over her shoulder with only minor difficulties. Papers threatened to spill over the top, but Lexi took no notice as she inclined her head towards the door, then gestured for Maggie to stand up. "Let's go then. I assume you have a broom, no?"

"Broom? Oh no ... not with me here. I've always flown on my dad's back home." Maggie got up, picking up her much lighter bag, and swinging it over her shoulder. Standing now, it was evident that Maggie towered over Lexi by a few inches. She smiled, not even noticing. She had been taller than her classmates usually, and over the years, she took pride in her height.

If Lexi had even noticed the difference in the girl's heights, she made no mention of it as she shrugged, determinedly not staggering under the weight of the bag. "No matter, you can use a school broom until you make the team. If you make the team." She smiled teasingly at Maggie and made her way to the front doors. "Give me a couple minutes to run this bag to the dorms, and I'll meet you at the pitch." With a small wave, she left the Hall.
