Lexi skipped into the Great Hall, finding quickly that a bag filled to brim with books and her uncoordination didn't mix well. She promptly fell, landing flat on her face, to the maniacal laughter of the other students gathered in the hall. Frowning and pulling herself up, dusting off the back of her jeans, she looked around the Main Hall.
Some of the Wolfsbanes were still pointing and laughing at her, but Lexi decided immediately to ignore them. She definately would not be sitting there. Her gaze found its way first to the Everard table, which, to her dismay, was empty. Everyone was probably still sleeping or doing homework, including her friends, which slightly surprised her. They usually skipped homework in general, and got up early so they could beat the rush to the Main Hall, but they were nowhere to be found.
Shrugging and determinedly ignoring the jaunts still being issued from the Wolfsbanes, Lexi settled herself at the end of the Everard table, pulling out a huge book on Divination and beginning to read.

"You dropped this." Maggie said handing the girl a quill. Maggie realized she probably shoud have made her appearance known, because she tended to walk very quietly, but the girl didn't seem too shocked, which was a relief.
Maggie was, or had been trying to find her way around the castle. As she walked, she noticed a random girl, actually skipping down the corridor. Skipping is rather fun, but Maggie had learned long ago, not to skip when carrying anything. The sceme was rather comical, up till the part where the girl fell on her face. That looked like it hurt.

Lexi looked up at the girl, smiling gratefully and stuffing the quill into her already overstuffed bag. "Thanks, classes these year are brutal, no?" she commented, gesturing to the bag by her feet, which looked fit to burst. In fact, from the way the seams were frayed, it seemed like it already had.
Lexi was obviously not embarrased, or even affected, by her trip, and she gestured for the girl to sit down. Upon further inspection, she noticed the badge on the front of her robes; she, too, was in Everard. "I thought you looked familiar." she commented, gesturing to the badge on her robes as well. "I must've seen you around the dorms. What's your name again?"

"Maggie Brice." She said, as she extended her hand, and then her eyes moved towards the girl's book and smiled, "Divination, huh? Learning to read the heavens?" Her eyes twinkled. Hopefully the girl would realize she was teasing. "I would imagine it's hard. It's not really a straightfoward topic, is it? A lot of grey areas."
Maggie had tried tea-reading once. But when she couldn't tell if a blob was a cross or a disfigured tree, her teacher deemed her hopeless. And that ended that.

It took all her effort to stop herself from rolling her eyes, but after the further comments of her major, she relaxed. She was obviously just teasing, and Lexi calmly shook her hand. "Yeah, Divination major. It's tough, but if you've got enough determination, and some talent, it's nice. Lexi Summers, by the way."
At this point, a group of boys walked past, throwing comments at Lexi as they laughed between themselves. She just rolled her eyes and made a rude gesture back to them, turning again to face the girl. "Sorry, if you don't want me to sit here, it's ok. I tend to get a lot of things like that." She gestured to the boys' backs behind her, who still seemed to be laughing. "Really, they think they're so witty, because they've gotten a chance to see me trip. Honestly, if they'd ever been around me for more than five minutes, they'd have seen it sooner; it's not exactly a rare event."
She smiled and rolled her eyes, obviously not affected by the rude behavior of the boys, though sat wondering whether she should still sit here. Having the boys tease her was one thing; having them tease another just because Lexi was there was another, and it was bound to happen eventually.

Maggie watched the boys as they past by. "Guys don't laugh at me unless I make a joke." She said thoughtfully, completely forgetting Lexi's previous comment. "I always got the impression they were scared of me, or something." She shrugged, and grabbed her fork and reached over to a cherry tomato. "It's probably because you're so pretty. Guys tend to tease people they like." Completely unfazed, Maggie continued to eat her cherry tomatoes.

Her comment caused Lexi to laugh, not out of cruelty, but from disbelief. "No, trust me. They were laughing because of my fall back there." She inclined her head towards the door, while grabbing an apple and taking a small bite from it. "It's got nothing to do with beauty whatsoever. And if boys are scared of you, they're definately scared of me too."
Lexi grinned and shook her head again, completely at ease, which was surprising, as she had just met this girl. She assumed it was simply because they were both in Everard, and, after a few moments, pulled her schedule from her bag, simply to give herself something to do.

Maggie pondered for a moment. "Well, it was quiet funny." She said, chewing, glancing at Lexi. "Up until the part where you fell on your face. That looked painfull." she added.
Maggie thought back and wondered if anything of the sort ever happened to her. Nothing came to mind, and figured it was because practicing sports at a young age made her coordinated and balanced. Her mind wandered ...
"Were you born in America?" She asked all of a sudden.

Lexi nodded, shrugging. Only about half the people in the school were actually born in America, so it wasn't an unusual question. She had her answer already on the tip of her tongue, and repeated it to Maggie, as if she had memorized it.
"Born and raised in Colorado, which is possibly the most boring state in the universe." She smiled weakly, knowing that what she had spoken was true. She had never been anywhere, outside of school and her small hometown. "What about you? Been in the grand ol' US for your whole life?"

Maggie shook her head. "My dad is Irish, and my mom is Russian. They met in London, where they were both looking for jobs. Then they got married and moved to Portugal ... and that's where I was born. Then at the age of 2, we moved to Australia, and then a few years later, we stayed a month in Chile, and then we moved to the exotic land of South Dakota. Where no one lives, and it is freezing in the winter." Maggie laughed. "But you must watch alot of European movies, or read books, because you're manner of speaking isn't that of a typical American teenager sometimes."

"Ah, you're lucky, that sounds so exciting. You get to live in places like Australia, I get to freeze my arse off in Colorado." The bluntness in her personality was very apparent, and Lexi had to stiffle a laugh at herself. Sometimes, the fact that she spoke whatever was on her mind surprised her. It certainly amused her to no end.
"And, well, my grandparents are from Italy. If that explains anything at all... I was practically raised by them, so I guess that's why I talk differently than most people sometimes. I didn't really notice." She shrugged, not thinking much of the comment, though it certainly interested her.

"See that!" Maggie said, pointing at Lexi, and taking a moment to swallow. "Only British teens say arse." Maggie took a sip of juice, thinking. "But I don't blame you. British slang is kind of fun. Like snog. That is such a random word. It's similarity to snot, would have made me assume it meant something not to pleasant, if I actually had never heard it before." Maggie paused for a moment. "That wasn't proper grammer, was it?" She asked looking to Lexi.

Lexi laughed and shook her head, doing her best to refrain from rolling her eyes. "Nope, definately not proper grammar, though I think I got the gist of it. British words are fun." She shot her a quick smile and grabbed a plate, starting to pile a few items of food onto it.
"But anyway, enough about the way I talk. That topic is thoroughly exhausted, I think. D'you play Quidditch?" she asked, then took a sip of water from in front of her.

"Truthfully.." Maggie took a moment. "I never tried." She prepared herself for the usual. Wide eyes, disbelief, shock. She had flown before. Her dad had a pretty good broom at home, and she would fly over the farms and feilds, but her community was so lacking in people her age, that she never got a chance to try outside of school. And naturally she never tried out in school, because she had absolutely no experiance.

But, the usual never came. Lexi just shrugged, spinning the half-eaten apple on the table in front of her. "You should try. I'm Captain, and I can guarantee that you can get on the team if you're good enough. If you get a chance, I'll teach if to you. It's really easy, once you've got the hang of it."
She had brought the conversation back to Quidditch, as she always did. Some of her friends called her obsessed; she prefered the term "dedicated."
