Jean stood at the foot of the staircase looking up at what seemed to be an unusually elegant set of stairs. With a quick, and almost under thought, step onto the second-skipping the first- stair he started up them, from that point on stepping on each as the first attempt at bypassing a step in stride resulted in a rather clumsy treatment of the task. Arriving at the first platform he paused scratching his head and turning to look upward again.

Ian clutched a book against his side, his fingers only lightly curled around the binding and his arm showing a long triangle of narrow light between it and his body. He put one hand against the post and stared up; finally he sprinted p the stairs and came up to the left of Jean. "Hey!" hje said, relatively brightly, allowing the edgy aggression he'd felt growing since his time on the dark isle to ease.

Jean smiled, having no reason not to. "Hey there." He said to Ian, who he hadn't seen in some time. He stopped looking upwards and turned his face to his, looking at his books then back to Ian's face. "I trust you've been well?" He asked turned to face him completely now. He smiled as he waited for a reply. Having not talked to anyone in quite a while the company was most appreciated.

"Better than," Ian assured him, just a hint of something strong and sharp in his voice. He pressed the book solidly against his leg now, rubbing the palm of his free hand against his jawline and taking a deep breath. "just brilliant, really, and awfully glad to hear Diggorced left." He laughed once at that and shook his head, let the sound trail off into a light sigh. "Yeah."
