Ian was hunched over, sitting halfway up the stairs, his hand crooked over a lined notebook and moving rapidly. Ironically, he was in fact composing a letter, although the book was full of them, all unsent. He didn't know what he planned to do when he filled the pages of the leatherbound journal. "If the error was mine," he dictated quietly to himself, "then I beg of you only a moment to elicit your forgiveness; don't leave me to grow as chill as the night when your sun sets for me." Ian sucked the end of his quill and fingered the leather cord on his neck.

Jean appeared at the foot of the staircase, holding with him a roll of parchment. He paid no attention to any of his surroundings, stepping onto the first stair with an ease of presence which confirmed that he had not noticed Ian. As his eyes were not ahead, he did not notice him still as he made his way about a quarter up the stairs- at which point his attention differed to his show lace. Kneeling down on the stair to tie it, his hair shifting to cover his eyes slightly more. He stood back up, facing away from Ian, looking back down the stairs. He leaned against the railing for a moment, then turned about. His manner quickly freezing over in the abrupt shock of seeing Ian there. Having not expect to see him much of anywhere, more of a hope than a truly workable plan. His annoyance with him hadn't subsided, and it had further proved to grow in their distance. He found him, and would relay it to others if asked, as an inconsiderate, arrogant, and self involved stereotypical wolfsbane which he had no real interest in getting to know beyond the points he had already had the displeasure of hearing.

Although the noise of Jean's ascemt was minimal, Ian's involvement with his desperate letters was finally broken. He frowned at the sight of Jean, and tried to return to his letter, but as he read over it, his own linguistic structures troubled him, and he let his eyes shut, feeling stupid and juvenile in suppressing tears quickly enough. Ian closed the book, paranoid though certain Jean would care less about Ian's private musings. "What happened to you?" he demanded sharply, as though Jean had vanished without permission only to return as a matter of interruption.

"Nothing." Jean replied in a toneless voice. He recomposed himself, and in an attempt to keep said composure he ran his hand through his hair and started up the stairs again. At reaching Ian's level he remarked quite quickly and without stopping, "Odd place to write." His voice was without emotion, or rather it was framed to appear such. He continued past, stopping only for a moment to look back before continuing.

"I like sitting on the stairs," Ian said tonelessly. He offered no explanation, though he had one, and it was simply that he could see three separate floors and a wide view of various doors and corridors from his in-the-way spot on the staircase.

Wesley neared the two of them at the stairs, having descended from a floor above. He hadn't talked to either of the two standing there- though he'd heard of the taller one. Stepping down to the stair which Jean stood as he talked to Ian he spoke. "I hope I'm not intruding, just passing through..." He smiled and took it upon himself to form an introduction. "Wesley-" He told them, looking at each in turn. Neither seemd to be all that thrilled to be in the others company. "...I was intruding huh?"

Jean shook his head. "Not at all- don't think it for a second." He told Wesley with a new found smile. "Jean." He added, turning to face the newcomer to the impromptu group proper. "I was actually just passing by myself- the whole thing made difficult by the fact that some people just sit in the middle of the stairs." He glanced at Ian.

"I know i prefer to sit under stairs..." Orean smirked as he breeched the hearing-range of the small pseudo-group. He hadn't intended to eavesdrop, and all he'd heard was the comment about people sitting in th emiddle of stairs; but, being a new him, he decided to interject a joke, seeing as the group appeared rather tense...

"As do I." Wesley added, with a small laugh hoping he could aid in breaking the tension. "Though- the light is never quite right for getting much done..." He glanced to the new member of the seemingly growing gathering.

"That's not a bad idea," Ian said appreciatively, tucking away the notebook to one side and looking at the latter Aeridorn with respect. "Not bad at all." He stood. "I'm Ian . . . this is Jean, he loathes me but he'll give you a fair chance I'm sure, not like me." Ian gave Jean a strange look.

Jean found Ian's words rather unnecessary- and indeed he did find quite a bit of loathing for Ian- mainly for reasons of his arrogance towards all which were not to be considered his equal. Jean civilly nodded and smiled.

Wesley looked from one to the other, watching Ian's departure than back to Jean. A moment inbetween spent on glancing at Orean as if to ask what to do.

Orean left the unemotional smirk upon his face, while internally wondering what kind of people he'd just stumbled across. Unsure as to what next to do, he fidgeted slightly, glancing about his fellow students.
"Well, I think I'll head on my way." He said hesitantly before turning mid-stair.

"As should I." Wesley added to Orean's words, "Please excuse me-" He withdrew from the stair which he stood, heading downward running his fingers through his hair, somewhat confused as to what had just happened. Looking down for a moment he then continued down the staircase.

Jean sighed, annoyed at Ian's words and their ramifications. With turn on his heal he retreated up the stairs.
