Ian slipped a parchment into a carefully crafted bow with a slot at the top; brushing his hair back from his eyes as the magical box 'read' the supply list his Alchemy professor had given him for the term project; the door to the storeroom unlocked and specific doors slid or swung open when their contents appeared on his list. He sighed heavily and began sorting through a bin of Calpusel Bulbs, searching for one of the proper size and consistency.

Mia was was exploring the school. She was walking by a room when she noticed a door open. Slipping in quietly, she realized there was someone else in the room. Mia tried to stay as un noticable as possible, while looking at all the stuff in the room and realizing it was a store room.

Ian's hand closed around one bulb, neither too wrinkled nor too small, and he checked the sprouts at the top. Finding they were indeed a nice rosy color, Ian stood up from his crouch and tossed it up and caught it again like a ball, turning around to look for his next ingredient. He started a little, noticing a girl standing in front of the shelves off near a corner. He let his eyes fall to the list in his hand and flick back to her. Since his reaction to being startled was defensive, he snapped at her pointedly, "I didn't need any flobberworm mucus today," and waved her aside.

"flobberw- eh?" Mia asked, a bit confused. She looked at the list in his hand and finally it clicked. "oh, im not a teacher or store room stocker or anything" she said, smiling at him. "im mia" she added

"Ian," replied the redhead smoothly, and with only the barest glance, he reached past her and ever so delicately plucked a vial of a dark bluish powder from a rack, holding it up between his thumb and forefinger and examining the contents. Nodding with satisfaction he tucked it away.

"hey, what is all this stuff?" Mia asked, looking around happily. "it looks like potions or something" she said

"Yes . . .but I don't need the stuff for potions class. I have a cross curricular project for alchemy," he explained, frowning once more at the list and letting his hand hover over a jar before lifting the lid and peeking inside.

Ian tensed a little, but he nodded generously (in his mind anyway). He spun around and reached up to a shelf, grabbing a few short things that looked vaguely but not quite like red cinnamon sticks. "What brought you down here anyway?"

Ian laughed. "Have you met my mother? She's more or less asking that same question all of the time." He looked back over his shoulder and raised both eyebrows. "Haven't decided . . . I thought about Curses, Hexes and Dark Rituals, or Demonology . . ."

"Are you an alchemy major? Did you have Professor Licht? Did you do this project?" he asked hopefully, looking at her more keenly now.

Ian looked a little disappointed, one side of his face pulling into a look of regret. "Right," he said, and sighed. "Did you transfer in from another collegiate institution? Or a seven year like this one? Or did you graduate a high school?"
