Alex had his eyes closed when Lexi promised she wouldn't be quiet around him. His eyes slowly opened as he looked at her. Her postion had changed, and he learned a few things about posture changing. When people are drwn in tight they aren't willing to share, but if they're either sprawled out ot just not all tight in a ball, they're willing to speak. He wondered if this was one of those cases. "So-" He had no idea what to ask or say. He was at a loss for words...why was that. He closed his eyes again trying to find something to say. "Are you worried about the Herbology Exam?" He asked stupidly. Of all the things to talk about he talks about school. "Way to go Alex." he mumbled angrily at himself. but waited politly to see what Lexi had to say.

Lexi smiled at his question, then let out a small laugh at his muttered comment to himself. "No, actually." she said, shaking her head so that a few stray strands of hair flopped in front of her eye, and she impatiently tucked them behind her ear once more. "I've been studying for this one for the last few weeks, so I'm pretty prepared, I think. And, well, whatever happens will do so, I suppose. I can't spend my entire life worrying... I've done all I can do, and now it's up to fate."
She held up her Divination book, as though proof of her confidence: that she was prepared enough to study another subject with an important exam in another the next day. "What about you, though?" she asked politely, recalling that he had been reading before she'd entered the room. "Worried about it at all?"

He watched her smile. He listened inteltly to what she was saying and tried not to laugh when she dealt the fate card. As much as he respected other interests and subjects, fate just seemed a little far fetched to him. How can your entire life be decided? There are so many choices you make in life, so basically its someone running your life for you, telling you what to do. That just seemed wrong.
"Well, I'm not too worried either. After all I need to know alot about plants and such. So not only do I study Herbology for Herbology I study for Potions as well." He told her laying his hand on his chest. "So basically when you came in I was studying for my worst subject, which happens to be Divination." He told her slightly smiling, No matter how much I study for it my head always seems to spit it back out as nonsense. I don't even know why I still take the class..." He said crinkling his nose.

Lexi listened to his explaination, and couldn't help but roll her eyes as he began talking about Divination. She knew that most people didn't respect it, or even consider it a decent major, and she had to always be on her toes, ready to defend her choice, even to her parents. Alex, however, didn't say it in a condescending tone, so she didn't snap back a retort, and only nodded as he expressed his utter distaste. After all, everyone had their opinions.
"It's not for everyone, I know." she said simply with a half-shrug, having not expected anything better from him. After all, him being a Potions major meant that he liked exact arts and sciences, things that you had to be precise about, and there would only be one correct answer. Divination was about as far from that as anything could be.

Alex grinned and thought about how he was practically failing Divination. He loved to give the teacher a hard time and he always contradicted her/him. Needless to say, he had gotten many detentions for it. He liked hard facts and proof. Things that made sense, not ifs or buts.
"I guess it's just natrual opposites." He shrugged and glanced at the cealing, 'But opposites attract." he said with a smile. "Like the sides of magnets. That's a proven scientifical fact." He told her with a smile. "The same sides repel and opposites attract." He muttered again smiling.

Lexi just smiled and shrugged as she listened to him, thinking about magnets and whether it applied to people as well. After all, she was still talking to him, and he had completely different beliefs and thought about things in ways she'd never imagined, and knew that she was probably the same way for him. It only made life a bit more interesting, and as long as they could still talk easily, nothing was much of a problem.
"It's weird how that works, isn't it?" she commented, turning her gaze up towards the ceiling as well, swinging her legs childishly on the window sill. "How people with completely opposite ways of thinking can still talk and get along. It's just... strange. But in a good way, of course." she added quickly.

Alex was still thinking about magnets as he listened to Lexi. what she was saying was absolutley true. Not only did he know it was like that for magnets, but he knew that it was like that for people. "Us, for example." he said with a smile waving a hand at Lexi. "A perfect example actaually." He sat up and rubbed the back of his neck smiling. It was quite possible that not only did he think it was just the scientific fact of opposites attracting was bringing Lexi and himself together. He hated to admit it but sheer luck, and maybe even...fate? No no no. He thought to himself. Fate doesnt exsist. Or maybe it does, and what I really dont believe in is Destiny. there is a differance. while he was contradicting himself in his head he had stood up and sat next to Lexi once more. And not only did he feel attracted in a mutual way because of magnetism, but also maybe even as for the fact she was a girl. "Sometimes I confuse even myself." Alex mumbled.

Lexi laughed at his comment, and watched him as he made his way over to her, sitting back down next to her. She could practically hear his mind whirring next to her, and he appeared deep in his thoughts, his eyebrows furrowed only slightly, as though he were annoyed. Which was strange, as she hadn't thought she'd annoyed him at all, but she knew better than to point it out. He was probably just thinking too deeply, is all.
She knew because she could relate. He was the type of guy who made her think far too much about the little things she said or did, and she was constantly wondering how she came off towards him. Which was strange as well. Nearly everything about the conversation, and their talking was strange, she noticed with a smile.

Alex snapped out of his thoughts, remembering that she was sitting right next to him. He felt a little bad that he ignored her, but technically he didn't. He was giving her a lot of thought in his mind. She seemed to make him think a lot about things he normally wouldn't think about. Other girls he talked to wouldnt make him think this much. but then again other girls don't really talk to him, they just stare.
Being attracted to Lexi was a good thing. He could tell that she wouldnt blow things out of porpotion. It was good to have someone to talk to, even if they had different veiws. Though having different veiws always made conversations interesting. He smiled and looked over at her, indicating he was done being in deep thought. He slightly bumped into her laughing inwardly. "I'm done thinking now." He said leaning back agianst the window.

Lexi, so deep in her thoughts (and trying to figure his out), jumped when he bumped into her, startled. It took her a bit to remember that he was sitting right next to her, so when she did, she let out a small laugh. "Almost forgot you were there, you were so quiet." she teased, her breathing returning to normal.
His comment made her laugh, though. "You're done thinking now? Does that mean that you're ready to talk to me, or are you just done with it in general?" she teased again, copying his stance and leaning backwards against the window, glancing over at him. The sunlight was pouring from behind him, making his details only a bit more than shadows, but she found it interesting. Artistic, even.

Alex laughed watching her lean back. "Well I'm done thinking for the moment." He told her with a smile. He brought his legs up and rested his arms on his knees. "Normally I'm not quiet...but then again I'm not really a chatterbox either. So I guess there will be times when I don't say anything at all." He warned, letting her know in advance in case he was ever quiet, which could give her the wrong idea. Iy's not that he was bored or not willing to talk, just that he either had nothing to talk about or was waiting for somone else to strike up a conversation.
Alez closed his eyes and let the suns rays envelope him, warming his skin. He smiled lightly and sighed, content.

"I know what you mean." Lexi assured him with a small nod, and she did. After all, she was the exact same way. If she didn't have anything important or interesting to share, she would often fall quiet, for she found small talk useless and dull. After all, there was only so many things one could say about the weather.
She paused for a few moments, trying to decide how best to phrase her words, then looked over at him once more. "You know, for two people so different, we're not really all that different at all, are we?" she decided, running her fingers along the window sill and looking up at the ceiling after noticing that his eyes were closed.

Alex opened his eyes and slight movement on the window sill made him look down. Lexi's fingers were trailing over the sill. As he spoke he watched her fingers. "Yeah, it's funny how that works isn't it." He looked up at her. Lexi's eyes were upturned tot he ceiling so his yes trailed over her features, taking them in.
"We only have different views, that doesn't mean we can't have similarities in our personaities." He stated dangling his legs over the side of the sill. He smiled and looked away.

Lexi, still gazing at the ceiling, smiled at his words and nodded. "I guess you're right." she decided, still running her fingers along the smooth sill, then turned her gaze to him. He had looked away at this point, but for some reason, she'd felt him stare at her. Maybe she was wrong.
Nonetheless, she kept her gaze on him and smiled, then looked back down at her feet. They were still swinging childishly for some reason, and she couldn't seem to stop them. Well, no matter... Hoping she didn't seem awkward or immature, she glanced back over at him, as though drawn to him.

"I know I'm right."Alex said grinning, trying not to look at her. He didn't want to come off as a weirdo who liked to stare at people. He felt her eyes on him. It was very difficult not to look at her. He preoccupied himself by playing with his hands and staring at his feet.
"Eh, forget it." he mumbled and looked at herr with a small smile. 'Don't get weirded out if I look at you. ok? I like to look at people when I'm talking to them. And it's kinda hard to not look at you."He said simply with a shrug. Something distracted him and he looked at Lexi's feet. They were swiming back and forth. He smiled and did the same, every so often bumping into her shoes.
